166: Food is NOT a Moral Issue
Food is not a moral issue, yet diet culture has conditioned us to believe that eating certain foods makes us “good” or “bad,” trapping us in cycles of guilt, shame, and restriction.
This moralization of food disconnects us from our bodies, fuels emotional eating and cravings, and keeps us stuck in an all-or-nothing mindset. But true food freedom comes when we stop labeling food as virtuous or sinful and start seeing it as simply food—some more nutrient-dense, some more satisfying, some just for joy, and all of them valid.
By challenging food guilt, giving ourselves full permission to eat, and detaching our worth from what we consume, we can break free from the exhausting diet cycle and cultivate a peaceful, trusting relationship with food and our bodies.
