188: Same Ice Cream, Different Experience

In this episode of the Lose Your Cravings podcast, I share two very different experiences with the exact same situation: eating ice cream from a carton at home after a long day.

In the first story, the pull of diet culture, food guilt, and an all-or-nothing mindset leads to a cycle of inner conflict, overeating, and shame. In the second, the same moment unfolds with awareness, self-check-ins, and permission to eat, creating a calm and satisfying experience.

Through these personal stories, I explore how our relationship with food—not the food itself—shapes our behavior and emotions around eating. I also share how leaving diet culture and learning to pause, listen to your body, and approach food without morality can transform your experience with eating and help you move toward peace with food, one small step at a time.
